Dog Rescued from Drainage Tile, near 500W & 400N… 04-28-2012 (photos & video!)

Sometimes you just need a story with a happy ending, and Saturday’s saga of Coonhound “Tramp” was a perfect example of cooperation and tenaciousness as FVFD, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, County Highway Department and three local businesses — A-1 Whitaker’s Sewer & Septic of Alexandria, Watson’s Excavating and Delmolino Plumbing, both of Anderson — came together to rescue one very stuck dog.

The story started on Friday evening when Gordon Mott’s Tramp, a Treeing Walker Coonhound, was so intent on following a raccoon that she followed it right into one of the field drainage tiles that run under much of the county. Tractor vs Pickup, Sigler & Washington… 4-27-12

Frankton High School’s annual Drive Your Tractor to School Day got off to a rocky start Friday morning, when a John Deere 3020 tractor driven by two students was involved in an accident with a Chevy Silverado at the intersection of Sigler and Washington Street. The students jumped clear as the tractor rolled, and were checked out by Frankton Ambulance 1. The truck’s airbag deployed, but the driver stated that he was only shaken up.

Three Fires and a Car Accident… 4-10-2012

Tuesday, April 10, turned out to be an extremely busy day for FVFD, starting with a mutual aid call in the morning which was immediately followed by a vehicle rollover, and ending with a house fire and a utility pole fire late in the day. Response times were fast for all four incidents, and 19 total FVFD personnel responded to the structure fire that evening.

The day started with a mutual aid call to assist Pipe Creek with a barn fire at 9630 W 1000N. FVFD was dispatched at 5:08 a.m. and arrived at 5:22. Accident with Injury, 600W & 200N… 3-7-2012

Station 30 responded to a personal injury accident involving a passenger who fell from a moving vehicle on CR600W just north of CR200N on Wednesday night. Alerted at 11:35 p.m., multiple units were on-scene at 11:45, along with Frankton Ambulance 1 & 2. StatFlight air ambulance was requested, and FVFD personnel set up a landing zone near the scene. The helicopter was on the ground at 12:06 a.m. and departed to transport the patient to Indianapolis at 12:19. All Station 30 units were back in service by 12:22 a.m.

Accident with Entrapment, 300N & 600W… 2-17-2012

At 6:17 on Friday morning, Station 30 was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident, with entrapment, with the vehicle off of CR 600W just south of CR 300N (just north of the co-op). Rescue 35, Engine 31 and Grass 36 responded, along with Frankton Ambulance 1 and Rural Metro. Frankton Ambulance 1 radioed to let crews en-route know that the roads were slick due to freezing fog. At the scene, the small pickup truck was on its passenger side and the driver, who was wearing his seat belt, was conscious and alert and talking to the rescuers. Accident with Entrapment, 100W & 600N… 12-25-2011

At 5:13 p.m. on Christmas Day, Station 30 was called out to the site of a single-vehicle accident on CR 100W just south of 600N. Rescue 35, Battalion 30, Engine 32 and Engine 31 all responded, with a total of 12 FVFD crew on-site.

The vehicle, a Ford Taurus with four passengers, was on its side with its roof near a tree. Responders worked quickly to stabilize and gain access to the interior of the vehicle and to begin extrication of the occupants. The first extrication was accomplished just 20 minutes after the team arrived on-scene, including stabilizing the vehicle, cutting the roof and extricating the victim, and the second extrication was accomplished just eight minutes later. Car fire, 600W & SR128… 10-25-2011

At 10:07 pm on October 25, dispatch reported a car on fire on N 600W, just south of State Road 128. Engine 32, Battalion 30 and Tanker 33 responded, marking en route at 10:11 and on scene at 10:12. On arrival, the engine compartment was found to be fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished, and FVFD personnel remained on scene to monitor the situation until Midland Towing arrived to remove the vehicle. All units were back in service by 10:50 pm.

Trash truck rollover, W 500N… 08-17-2011

Wednesday morning at 10:34, a call came in for a trash truck rollover on West County Road 500N, west of CR 600W. Battalion 30 and Rescue 35 responded, along with Frankton Ambulance and the Sheriff’s Dept., and found a Manifold Refuse truck upside-down in a ditch on the north side of the road between 700W and 800W. The driver had minor injuries and his crew member was uninjured. Both were out of the vehicle when personnel arrived on-scene.

Hydraulic oil was leaking from a tank on the now-upper surface of the truck and pooling in the truck’s frame. FVFD personnel assessed the situation and applied absorbent material to contain the leak. Grass 36 was called to bring additional absorbent, and the HazMat unit was requested… Read the rest
