Congratulations go out to Lt. Scott Matson, who was named FVFD Firefighter of the Year for 2011 at the department Christmas party on December 4, 2011. In announcing the decision, Chief Rob Amick praised Scott for not only his run total for the year, but also for personal and professional growth over the last year. Scott’s concern and caring for his fellow firefighters make him a valuable asset to the department.
When told that he needed to say a few words, he used that moment to thank his family for their support during all the times that FVFD runs have called him away from family time and family events, which really supported what the Chief had just been saying about how Scott always thinks of others first.
