Chief Rob Amick
Amick joined the department in 1996 and was appointed to the position of Chief in 2005 after holding the positions of Safety Officer, Lieutenant, Captain and Assistant Chief. Amick started in Emergency Services at the age of 16 and has continued his involvement in many aspects for over 32 years. Amick has been married to wife, Joanne, for 20 years; she serves as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. They have two sons, Alex and Evan. Evan is known to members of the department as 230½!
Amick holds the following certifications and memberships: Fire Officer Strategy And Tactics, First Responder, Hazmat 1st Responder Awareness, Hazmat 1st Responder Operations, First Class Firefighter, Second Class Firefighter, Emergency Vehicle Operator, AHA Certified CPR Instructor, Member Of Indiana Fire Chiefs Association, Member Of The National Fallen Firefighters Association, Member Of The National Fire Chiefs Association.

Assistant Chief Josh Hendrick
Hendrick joined the department in 2004, and was appointed to the position of Lieutenant and Training Officer in 2009 and then to Assistant Chief at the beginning of 2012. Hendrick has been an Emergency Medical Technician since 2005, also volunteering for the Indiana Department of Homeland Security District 6 Medical Task Force. In 2009, he became certified as a State of Indiana Fire Instructor and is also certified to Firefighter I & II level and Fire Officer Strategy & Tactics.

Captain Scott Matson
Matson joined the department in 1998, was appointed Lieutenant in 2009 and was then promoted to Captain at the beginning of 2012. He holds Fire Officer Strategy & Tactics and Firefighter I & II certifications, along with HazMat Awareness and Operations. He became certified as an Instructor 1 in 2009. Matson was named FVFD Firefighter of the Year in 2011.

Lieutenant Josh Shepherd
Shepherd joined the department in 2001 and was appointed Lieutenant in 2012. He’s certified as Firefighter I and II, and received a Bullard Save-A-Life Award in 2004 for saving a life using a thermal imaging camera during a structure fire.
Lieutenant Michael Pelsor
Pelsor joined the department in 2006 and holds Firefighter I and II certifications. He was appointed Lieutenant at the beginning of 2012, and he will be working to build up the staffing levels at FVFD’s Station 2 in Lafayette Township.

Chaplain Gary Elsten
Elsten joined the department in 2009 as Chaplain. He is an Ordained Elder in the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church, having been ordained in 2006. He is currently serving the Frankton First UMC (since 2005), having also served the Aroma UMC. Elsten was born in Anderson and has lived in this area all his life. He volunteered to be the department chaplain after hearing Chief Amick speak about the department at a local Lion’s Club meeting and feeling God’s call to volunteer his services.
