An Evening of Field Fires… 4-3-2013

Friday, Rescue 35 went out on back-to-back runs to check on field fires. The first one, at CR 600W and CR 350N, turned out to be an agricultural burn and the farmer was in the next field and had an eye on things. As Rescue 35 was preparing to leave the first fire, another report came in, this time for a fire at State Road 128 and CR 200W. This also appeared to be an agricultural burn, but as the section nearest the highway could have potentially caused problems with smoke across the road, Station 30 personnel extinguished that portion before returning to service. A bit later, as the wind started to pick up, Station 30 personnel drove back out to double-check and to ensure that the remaining burn wasn’t getting out of control due to the wind.
